Over the course of more than a dozen visits to Austria, Tim Grey has grown to appreciate the many charming aspects of this country. During those travels he has enjoyed many photographic opportunities, with the Alps consistently standing out as a highlight.

The city of Salzburg is a popular destination for anyone who visits Austria, and the "old town" area is full of charm. We will have the opportunity to photograph scenes made famous from the movie "The Sound of Music", but more importantly we will explore some of the hidden corners of this beautiful city nestled at the foot of the Alps.

Of course, a visit to Salzburg would not be complete without venturing into the Alps, and we will most certainly spend considerable time photographing awe-inspiring peaks. We'll even venture up to the top of some of those peaks to get a better perspective on the vast mountain range surrounding us.

Among the mountains we'll explore many valleys, spend time at Alpine lakes, visit a variety of small towns, explore a couple of awe-inspiring gorges, savor the pastoral countryside, and more. You'll feel there is a new photographic opportunity everywhere you turn as we explore many beautiful scenes among the Alps in both Austria and Germany.

Along the way you will get to know Austria, you will improve your photography, and you will depart with photographic images that preserve cherished memories of a very special place.

The workshop is limited to six attendees, ensuring you will get personal attention and assistance capturing incredible photographs. Once you arrive in Salzburg, all expenses related to the workshop are covered as part of your fee. In other words, during the workshop you can focus exclusively on enjoying the experience and capturing remarkable photographic images.

What You Should Know:

We put tremendous effort into leading great workshops that ensure you will be able to capture beautiful photos while having fun.

To help ensure this is the right workshop for you, please consider the following:

  • Physical Requirements - We will explore many of our photographic locations on foot during the workshop, and some of the walking may be over uneven terrain with some hills and stairs. You should be able to manage this level of exertion while carrying your photography gear. In some cases we will be at relatively high elevations (up to about 7,000 feet).

  • Getting Around - During the workshop we will make use of a van to get to the locations for our photography. For some of the destinations we will visit as part of this workshop, we may spend an hour or more on the road at a time. If you have concerns about traveling in (or getting in and out of) a van, please let us know.

  • Dietary Restrictions - While many restaurants are able to accommodate diners with special dietary restrictions, we cannot be sure that all restaurants will be able to meet the needs of all diners. If you have significant dietary restrictions, we recommend discussing your concerns with us before registering for the workshop.

  • Good Attitude - Above all, what makes a great workshop experience is a great group of photographers. We expect all participants to be patient, polite, and good-natured during the workshop.
